Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gravently (“Gravently,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Gravently website, mobile applications, and related services (together, the “Service”). It is the companion to our Terms of Service, and the data practices summarized in Section 9 of the Terms are described in full here. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
Gravently operates a local events discovery service that lets you find, save, and attend events near you, and lets businesses list and promote venues and events. You can reach us about privacy at any time at support@gravently.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account and profile data— email address, password (stored only as a salted, peppered hash), display name, avatar, rank, badges, and, if you choose a third-party sign-in option, the identifiers that provider returns to us.
- Location data— your approximate or precise location, collected only with your permission and used to surface nearby events, render maps, and power check-ins. You can revoke location access at any time in your device or browser settings.
- Activity and usage data— your swipes, saved events, accuracy votes, comments, reports, searches, check-ins, QR scans, calendar activity, and interactions with listings and notifications.
- Device and technical data— IP address, browser and device information, session and authentication tokens, push notification device tokens, diagnostic logs, and analytics and performance telemetry.
- Content you submit— images, listings, and other content you post, including image and text content processed by our automated safety scans for prohibited material.
- Business and payment data— for business accounts, business name, contact details, venue and payout information, and the customer and transaction identifiers maintained by our payment processor. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and authenticate you;
- To operate the Service — show nearby and relevant events, render maps, run check-ins, leaderboards, reminders, and calendars;
- To send transactional and, where permitted, promotional notifications and emails (you can opt out of non-essential email on your account page and of push in your device settings);
- To process subscriptions and business payouts through our payment processor;
- To keep the Service safe — detect spam, fraud, and prohibited content, and enforce our Terms; and
- To analyze usage so we can fix bugs and improve the Service.
4. Camera and QR scanning
With your permission, the app uses your device camera solely to scan event and check-in QR codes. Scanning happens on your device; we do not record or store camera imagery, and the camera is never accessed in the background.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service, with service providers acting on our behalf under contract:
- Payment processing— Stripe, for subscriptions, business onboarding, and payouts;
- Push notifications— Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) and Apple Push Notification service (iOS), to deliver the notifications you enable;
- Maps and geocoding— map tile and address-lookup providers, to render maps and resolve places;
- Email delivery and hosting— our email and cloud-hosting providers, to send messages and run the Service.
We may also disclose information to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, the public, or Gravently, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, maintain your session, and secure forms. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records to meet legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights in the app or by emailing support@gravently.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account permanently in the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, sign-in links, and associated personal data, except records we are required to retain for legal or fraud-prevention purposes. If you cannot access the app, email support@gravently.com from your account email address and we will process the deletion for you.
10. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, scoped access controls, and other safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and regulators of incidents where the law requires it.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@gravently.com and we will delete it.
12. International users
We operate the Service from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
